Better Health Diabetes Group is a “kick start” for patients

Many patients with Type 2 Diabetes attending this weekly exercise/diet group launched in October 2018 are reporting the group has given them the kick start they needed to feel more motivated to improve their health. Our QSMC Dietitian/Diabetes Educator Carole Richards leads the group in conjunction with Aden Reynolds from Eurobodalla Exercise Physiology – they have now conducted 23 groups with patients receiving 170 group services.

Carole and Aden provide easy, safe and effective supervised exercise sessions plus all the good nutrition advice in a friendly, supportive one-hour weekly group session. You can join this group at any time – it runs on Fridays at the QSMC Moruya meeting room, starting at 11.30. As a member of the group you’ll learn:

  • What is type 2 Diabetes
  • Exercise and Diabetes
  • Healthy Diet for Diabetes
  • Carbohydrate and GI
  • Healthy Heart eating
  • Food Label Reading Skills
  • Smart Shopping tips and how to adjust recipes for Diabetes
  • Goal Setting
  • Role of your Diabetes Team

It’s easy to get started – the group is Medicare-funded so please see your usual GP for your referral – if you have any questions feel free to contact Hamish Gorman or Aden Reynolds at Eurobodalla Exercise Physiology on 4472 8008.
